Highest interest first
Prioritize the debt with the highest annual percentage rate. This approach typically reduces estimated interest when payment amounts and other assumptions remain consistent.
Credit cards and loans on one plan, your mortgage on another, and both reflected in the budget you already keep. Payoff dates and interest are estimates based on the information you enter.

A plan you can understand
When one debt reaches zero, its planned payment can move to the next debt according to the payoff approach you select. The result is a month-by-month illustration—not a promise of a particular outcome.

Payoff questions, clearly answered
The consumer debt plan covers credit cards and loans — and orders them so that when one is paid off, its payment moves to the next. The mortgage plan is a separate page for a single loan, where you test what additional principal would do to the payoff date and interest.
For each consumer debt: the current balance, interest rate, and minimum payment. For a mortgage: the balance, interest rate, principal-and-interest payment, and the other loan details the screen asks for.
Debts you record here are the same debts that appear in your net worth. You enter them once.
The plan and the budget use the same figures. Each debt’s minimum payment appears in your budget under its own category, and whatever your plan adds above the minimum appears under Debt payoff, in savings and debt payoff. You enter each amount once.
Your regular mortgage payment appears under Housing, in needs. Additional principal you test on the mortgage page stays there as an estimate and is not added to your budget.

No. Dates and interest are estimates based on the information and assumptions entered. Rate changes, fees, new charges, missed payments, or lender calculation methods can produce different results.
